A recent report by TeamLease EdTeach, a provider of learning and employability solutions, reveals a robust job market for fresh graduates. According to the ‘Career Outlook Report HY2 (July – December 2024)’, a notable 72% of employers across India are planning to hire fresh graduates in the coming months. This finding is based on a survey of over 603 companies conducted between April and June 2024.
The report highlights a positive shift in hiring trends, showing a 4% increase from the previous half-year period and a 7% rise compared to the same period in 2023. This trend suggests an improving job market for new talent entering the workforce.
The report identifies e-commerce and technology start-ups, engineering and infrastructure, and retail as the top three sectors with the highest hiring intent for fresh graduates. Specifically, 61% of employers in e-commerce and technology start-ups, 59% in engineering and infrastructure, and 54% in retail plan to recruit fresh talent.
Geographically, Bengaluru tops the list with 74% of employers expressing intentions to hire freshers. Mumbai follows with 60%, and Chennai rounds out the top three with 54%.
In terms of job roles, fresh graduates with skills in full stack development, SEO, digital sales, and UI/UX design are in high demand. Employers are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in cybersecurity, cloud computing, data analytics, and search engine optimization.
This data reflects a favorable outlook for recent graduates and underscores the growing need for skilled professionals in key technology and infrastructure sectors.
