STEM after school is America ‘s federally funded after-school initiative focused on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math education that is a cooperation product of NASA and the US Department of Education. COVID-19 Homework Help campaign will target over 1000 learners with more than 60 Cities across 10 states.
This partnership was marked officially on September 23 at the Wheatley Education Campus in Washington, DC. It also defined the relations of the students to the program during the event through the introduction by Kris Brown, the NASA’s Deputy Assistant Administrator for STEM Engagement, and Cindy Marten, the US Department of Education’s Deputy Secretary. Marten added that this partnership is a “full advantage of academic possibilities in discovery, creativity, and success in STEM disciplines.”
NASA’s Glenn Research Centre in Cleveland will play a crucial role by providing such content, providing necessary and engaging do it yourself projects, staff training and exposing the students to NASA scientists and engineers. Through design challenges, participants will solve tasks that actually arise in the working process of NASA specialists.
Deputy Administrator Pam Melroy also added that the agency will continue to support after-school programs and the idea is to get students interested in what NASA does. She also observed that such
funding is supposed to awaken interest, urge potential, and help inspire the next generation of scholars, scholars, researchers, and inventors.
