Google Launches New Education Services for Students and Teachers

Google has introduced updated features to help teachers save time and support students. In a blog post, Shantanu Sinha, VP of Product Management at Google for Education, announced that the business is launching up to 30 new features for students and teachers.

“All of these new features were designed to help both teachers and students save time, get the support they need, and adapt to today’s learning environments. When it comes to AI specifically, we’ve been listening to and working with millions of educators to understand how to best bring this technology into the classroom,” he said.

Here are some of the main new features:

Duet AI for creativity and productivity: Teachers can get new ideas while saving time using generative AI across Workspace apps.

Create, manage, and share lessons in Google Classroom: According to Sinha, the Classroom’s new Resources tab makes it easier for instructors to develop, organize, and distribute interactive lessons, such as practice sets and video activities, all in one spot.

Electronic signatures: eSignature, built directly into Google Workspace, allows educators to design contracts easily, get signatures in Docs and PDFs in Drive, and manage contract templates all in one place.

Furthermore, students will soon be able to view forthcoming Google Classroom assignments directly on their Chromebook home screens. Also, later this year, in addition to exporting grades from Classroom to SIS gradebooks, educators can set up classes with OneRoster SIS partners such as Aspen, Infinite Campus, Skyward, and soon PowerSchool.
