Google’s CEO Announced $120 Million to Bridge the AI Gap

At the first-ever ‘UN Summit of the Future’ on Saturday where Google CEO Sundar Pichai said the firm would invest $120 million in AI education and training to overcome the ‘AI Gap’. When addressing the 74th annual United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), Pichai presented the “Global AI Opportunity Fund,” insisting that the program offer education in local languages and cooperate with nonprofit organizations and non-governmental organizations.

AI was referred to as the most transformative technology by Pichai in his keynote speech where, the CEO of the Google parent company Google Alphabet shared his story of growing up in Chennai to becoming a leader of one of world largest technology firms. He highlighted four key areas where AI can drive significant change: promoting local language information, science progress, effective climate disasters response and general world economy.

Of course, the AI also exposed some problems: errors, prejudice, and technological abuse such as deep fakes, Pichai also pointed out. He called for guidelines to govern the usage of artificial intelligence but worringly distinguished between protectionist measures on one side and on the other, laissez faire policies that can open up the market for fair use of AI.

The motion by this protagonist inspires solutions to the challenges posed by AI and therefore marks a great step toward ensuring that the positive touched of AI is availed to everyone in the global society.
