British Indian Student Anoushka Kale Elected President of the Cambridge Union Society

British Indian student Anoushka Kale has been elected as the President of the esteemed Cambridge Union Society for Easter 2025, becoming a prominent leader in one of the oldest and most influential debating organizations in the world. Founded in 1815, the Cambridge Union is celebrated for its advocacy of free speech and intellectual debate.

Kale won her position with 126 votes in a recent election, running unopposed. Currently the society’s Debates Officer, she campaigned on a platform that highlights diversity and cooperation, especially with cultural groups at the university, including the India Society.
“I am incredibly excited and honored to have been elected as President of the Cambridge Union Society for Easter 2025, and I sincerely appreciate the support of the membership,” Kale stated.

Her vision encompasses promoting greater inclusivity by collaborating with cultural societies and continuing to invite prominent international speakers. “During my term, I aim to enhance diversity and access at the Union by fostering collaboration with cultural groups, such as the India Society at the university. I am particularly enthusiastic about continuing to host international speakers and global debate topics, as I did in my role as Debates Officer,” she elaborated.
