In a major step towards getting India recognized as an ideal location for both academics and technology, the Ministry of Home Affairs has endorsed G20 Talent Visa. Its aim is to bring the best brains among the scholars, researchers and professionals in G20 countries and enrich India’s academic and research domain.
Offshoot of the student visa, the S-5 category of the G20 Talent Visa is designed for individuals who pursue projects, post-doctoral programme, fellowships or specialized vocational training. UGC has been assigned the responsibility of creating awareness of the visa among the HEIs of the country to spread awareness among researchers and academicians.
It supports the vision expressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the G20 summit in September: to engage international cooperation and develop India’s scientific and technological potentialities. The government of India wants to bolster India’s abilities and create new opportunities in education, and inviting international talent into the country can forward their plans.
An official notice from the Ministry of Home Affairs highlights the significance of the visa, stating: “The G20 Talent Visa presented is a golden chance with which people can showcase their researches and inventions in India.” The UGC has encouraged the disseminating information on this scheme to other faculties, researchers and scholars within the higher education institutions to ensure that its reach is widened.
The G20 Talent Visa is a very wise move towards developing the corporate academic research framework, or the specialization of India as the education and innovation hub.
